Since early December of 2021 tensions have been increasing across the Atlantic in Europe. I'm not talking about all the crazy Covid policies with people losing their rights to governments or the weekly protests against vaccine passports. Rather the developing situation between Russia and Ukraine that the U.S. wants to hype up. Simply put what happens between these two countries has very little weight on any of us here in America. Except maybe some politicans, wealthy elites or arms manufactures that would benefit handsomely from a war with Russia. This again is an example of America's horrible foreign policy of interventionism, which does nothing but stir up trouble across the globe. All on the taxpayers dime and at the expense of American lives.
The Biden Administration is looking to throw out one last heil marry in order to save their crashing approval ratings. Their touchdown, another WAR to "save" the economy and help draw everyone’s attention away from inflation.
The U.S. has already orchestrated the overthrowing of Ukraine's democratically elected leader in 2014 in order to install their own puppet leader. Viktor Yanukovych, who was elected in 2010 was made an enemy of the U.S. for being pro Russia. His forced dismissal only added to decades worth of turmoil in the country, furthering the divide and creating a frozen civil war.
I do not understand why the west is still trying to bully Russia, making them out to be everyone’s enemy. The wall came down in 1991 and the USSR has fell along with communism in Russia. Yet all manner of politicans and elitists continue to meddle in affairs all throughout Eastern Europe and specifically Eurasia. Communism is alive and well in China so why not make them an enemy. While the U.S. plays best friend's to a legitimate communist nation, appeasing them at every step, we decide to pick a fight with a country who has no interest in us and poses no real threat. Washington continually tries to convince the American people we are still in a Cold War with Russia. Yet the real cold war is going on with China.
It is important to recognize how little of a seat Russia has at the table when it comes to Europe. They are counted out of all major organizations and groups. Leaving them to fend for themselves in a sea of countries who have been conditioned not to work with them. Decades of losing deals have harmed their economy and therefore their citizens. Russia is tired of being everyone’s fall guy. They are tired of the U.S.’s monopoly on currency and oil. The years of abuse are forcing them the take their own beneficial action regardless of what the world thinks.
Instead of making mutually beneficial trade deals with Russia countries refuse to be reasonable towards them. This has pushed Russia to work exclusively with China in all matters of trade. We cannot get mad at other countries for doing things that make sense for their own interests and benefits to their citizens. Especially when we force their hands in doing so. China is not foolish enough to make Russia a enemy like we are. Why not have them as a sort of mutually beneficial friend?
Why is Russia interested in Ukraine at all?
For the same reason U.S. citizens are worried about our border with Mexico. Eastern Ukraine is home to a population of people who are Russian citizens. Years of escalating turmoil so close to someone's national border should warrant any leader to take action. Sadly our leaders here at home do not care about the best interests of their citizens the same way Russia does about theirs.
Extremist groups that are operating in eastern Ukraine have increasingly posed a threat to the Russian citizens living in the area. As of recent months these threats have risen prompting a response by Russia. Not only to protect the lives of their citizens that live in Eastern Ukraine but also people living near their border. A country protecting ones citizens and borders from foreign agitators is something anyone would expect from a competent leader or government.
What does that tell you about our government? A government which actively lets thousands of illegal immigrants enter the country on a weekly basis. Then uses taxpayer dollars to ship them across the country to areas in which they can be used to "buy" votes during election cycles.
Is Russia quietly trying to regain some of the territory it lost after the fall of Soviet Union?
Possibly?
These being Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia which were all part of the Russian Empire at one point. Now they are members of NATO with bases in their countries. Does Russia desire to control all of Europe, I doubt it.
Are they trying to give themselves some more breathing room between themselves and NATO?
Possibly?
Either way we should be less focused on what is happening there and worry about strengthening our own side of the globe.
Who has continually created the threats and turmoil that Russia has to continually respond to?
You guessed it, America, themselves. The home of democracy is always working to undermine any sort of free democracy around the world if it does not align with their agenda.
Ukraine has been promised they would become a member of NATO, which would further push American and European forces closer to Russian borders. Imagine if over the past 30 years Canadian and Mexican military forces were slowly moving closer to the their respective borders with the U.S. Then setup permeant military bases that would allow for quick mobilization and strikes. That would certainty make tons of people living there uneasy and we would demand those troops be moved off our borders. Now think that Russia has been having that same thing done to them along their western border since the fall of the USSR. Except the forces are not from the native bordering countries but by countries from around the world in the form of NATO.
Russia is answering a threat they see along a specific part of their border in order to protect their citizens.
It has come out the CIA is actively training Ukrainian paramilitary forces to "kill" Russians. Wouldn’t that be something, if American backed forces attacked Russian troops or citizens.. This is the exact same playbook we used in Afghanistan when the Soviet Union invaded in 1979. We already knew the USSR was on the decline and likely to collapse on its own. Yet our foreign policy got involved anyway, which led to the formation of Al Qaeda, that 20 years later resulted in 9/11. During a period of 20 years where U.S. military forces attempted to take control of Afghanistan from the Taliban, as the USSR had tried in 1979. Both of us failed with a end result being giving the country back to the Taliban. Our exit in 2021 may have been a little more embarrassing then the Soviets.
As we can see U.S. foreign policy gets involved around the world for no reason. Then creates problems which end up negatively impacting our citizens.
The vaguest treat the U.S. has made thus far is kicking Russia out of our international SWIFT system.
The SWIFT system is a payment system that the U.S. controls. It allows countries of our choosing to conduct foreign trade through banks dealing in dollars. Russia is one of the biggest energy exporters in the world. If you haven’t noticed European Natural Gas has hit record high prices this winter. Russia controls nearly 40% of the natural gas supply to Europe. Given European countries dramatic switch to "unreliable" green energy without accounting for the decrease in energy sustainability. Has put an entire continent at the mercury of a single country. This is of course a problem each of these countries created for themselves.
In theory what happens when European countries can no longer buy energy or natural gas from Russia via the SWIFT system?
Europeans begin to expirence even higher energy prices. Which leads to rolling blackouts, loss in economic output and finally a reality where people could freeze to death during the winter.
Looks like Russia is not getting kicked out of the SWIFT system anytime soon.
Luckily President Biden gave Putin the green light as long as they keep it to a "minor incursion".
These type of remarks are empty and hollow at best. Not to mention how much weakness they show on the side of a country. Whatever Russia is forced to do to protect their citizens living in eastern Ukraine, it is no business to us. The continued need for us to comment and "threaten" to intervene shows how hungry Washington is for WAR. At least the population does not seem to have an apatite for it. This alone could save us from our derelict of a government starting something we cannot benefit from.
We must not let our politicans continue to misled us into believing their lies about other countries intensions. Anyone who has a basic understanding of history, economics or basic common sense could decipher that Russia currently poses little threat to us. If we keep on this path of hostility toward them, forcing them to strengthen their ties with China instead of the rest of the world. Russia could watch our collapse from a far as China continues to hollow out our manufacturing base, while strengthening their own trade around the world. Demand for U.S. dollars can only last for so much longer.
Do not buy into the warmongering from Washington, the White House and the main stream media. Russia is simply doing what any sane country would do who is experiencing increasing turmoil along its borders. Except the U.S. of course because we only care about what is going on between other countries in order to divert attention from problems going on back home.
Just remember this is the guy trying to start WORLD WAR THREE..!
